Collaborating with Allies and Morrison, and Glen Howells Architects, Maccreanor Lavington developed the regeneration plans for this former hospital site in East London for Barratt Homes and Circle Anglia.
The masterplan for the site provides 964 homes, an NHS health care facility, new community facilities and one hectare of parks and gardens. 50% of the housing provided is affordable and 30% across all tenures if family housing.
St Andrews Block B contains 230 homes and forms one of three urban courtyard blocks. Good quality, private, external spaces are provided in the form of roof terraces, decks, large balconies and loggia spaces for the larger units (three bed and above. The remaining flats have large steel balconies, which use a pattern derived from fragments of the cast iron decoration of the original Victorian hospital.
