A characterful family house in London has been modernised and extended. The rear façade architecture has been re-modelled with laminated timber and black metal features, inserted into the existing bricks. Cleverly positioned skylights and windows, allow all the newly designed spaces to be flooded with light while framing views. The extended ground floor openly projects outdoor to a welcoming entertainment space. Inside, the kitchen, together with the bespoke fitted furniture and one generous dining table enhance the sense of un-cluttered comfort. One folded-metal staircase has been added to access the underused loft, now converted into a luxurious bedroom suite with panoramic view. All the furniture and the lighting are tailor designed to the spaces to create a peaceful sense of consistent harmony between the architecture envelope and the interior environments. Some original features of the house have been brought back to life in dialogue with modern additions. The colour Black on most finishes provides depth and intimacy, as well as a background to the few vivid colours that animate the refurbished residence.
