In a recently finished apartment building in Padova, Andrea Tognon Architecture was asked to design the interiors of a top floor unit, without changing its layout. -and without demolition or plumbing changes. Due to the impossibility of demolition and opening spaces, the architects decided to work with an opposite approach - with the visual fragmentation of the space through colors, materials and reflecting surfaces. To hide the entrance and give a feeling of intimacy to the dining room area which is located in the same room. We used black painted walls and a ceiling & black rubber floors to contrast the light wood, defining two completely different ambiences in the same room. The green colored mirror in the black area, reflecting is the light from the opposite windows & gives therefore the impression of an opening, or an additional space.
