The multipierced stainless steel annulus is both a stout base and a geometrical matrix. As a geometrical matrix it grades the arrangement of the stems. The stringent topology imposed by the circular geometry is cushioned by the chance to place freely one or more stems (in case with various heights) in one ore more of the eight holes. The triumph of linearity of the carbon fiber stem, characterized by a stable equilibrium flexibility, magnifies the aerial perfection of the aluminium segmental sphere. It recalls a flying saucer, with its rounded and continuous shape. The segmental sphere seems to be held back by the stem, vibrating and thin like a taut rope. Design does not pursue pre-emptively a form, but allows the parts to express their own distinguishing formal features: massive perfection, structural essentiality, sated roundness: this dialogue originates a new shape. High-quality materials like stainless steel, aluminium and carbon fiber, stimulate an exact constructive technique without any welding and encourage reversibility and demountability. MARSLANDING is suitable for both indoor – even damp rooms - and outdoor use.
