When Designing a house in Toyama prefecture, I am often requested that a house has a garage big enough to park 2 cars. We can always simply install a carport. However when considering the relations with its surrounding environment, I have wanted to design a garage in tone with the environment. In this house, I have installed two separate garage to adjust the proportion of the building. Having two separate garage also allows the owner to use one of them for other purpose if necessary. I have succeeded in creating half-exterior space consisting of garage, approach, terrace and middle garden, which connects the residential area with the environment. By using various kinds of material and employing light and air volume, I have given a certain degree of divisions to the residential space, even though it is still one space. With the half-exterior space serving like a part of interior, the residential area seems bigger.
