Warmth. It’s the most elemental feeling in any home; the one factor that turns a house into a home. This expansive, river facing; five bedroom; 3668 sq ft apartment, located in the heart of the city, exudes that feeling in plenty. The apartment was designed in whole; as a textural paradise starting from the elevator lobby to every minute detail was taken into consideration. Texture is a quality possessed from natural materials, which can be created even in manmade materials; it adds to the beauty of the interior space. The use of natural materials like wood, katni stone, slate stone, core-of-ply, marble chips and Indian Juparana granite have been used. The foyer in stone cladding and is treated with back lights and Zen like atmosphere to give a soothing welcoming atmosphere. Stepping into the apartment, there is no tell-tale sign that one is looking at one large living area that now lie separately; with a formal and informal area without creating any barrier or separation wall. The opulent living room, like most of the house, is decked in katni stone and is perfect for a family that likes to entertain. It is an enormous area which opens up into a private terrace – furnished with wicker furniture – affording exclusive views of the city’s river. The living area has a dominant stone clad wall with a simple TV unit towards the informal space. The dining space – divided from the living by a quaint little sitting space created between two columns is probably the favorite area for the family. The dining area includes an eight - seater square dining table with a vinyl printed ceiling and complimentary chandelier. The kitchen is kept simple in white corian, granite, white back-painted glass and aluminum profile. The worship room has been kept semi-enclosed with wooden planks placed at regular intervals and clear glass panels placed in-between them. In order to accommodate larger groups of people during festivities; one can easily connect while staying outside the worship room. Not only does the design reflect a sensible use of space and the incorporation of everyday function, it also trumps on the aesthetics’ front. Bedroom; being the space that would play many roles: a place for relaxing on a day off, a retreat after a long day’s work and above all else, a family residence, had to be designed very carefully. Core – of - ply was used to dress-up the entire wall of the master bedroom. The white contrast of white PU of the unit was matched with the white walls and ceiling of the room. Muted curtains were used to compliment the sober interiors of the residence. Foyer lighting and main door- The first impression created is always the best impression created. The foyer has to be treated on the same principle. The entry door leading towards the foyer is also clad in natural texture by slate sheet. An interesting detail worked out in designing the handle for the door on each side, contains a cove to hold an indirect light. This lightens up the door and makes the textures of the material seem clearer. An open area with walls on each side makes for a perfect foyer opening. The walls treated in slate stone create an appropriate background with natural textures and shades, for a reverse lighting effect. A natural wood ledge fixed parallel to the end wall creates a perfect place for “The Lord” to bless the home. Below the ledge, is created a little area with marble chips in a natural circular flow.
