" After the competition "Défrichez-là " , organized by the Public Establishment of Development of Saint -Étienne ( EPASE ) in March 2011, the Collectif Etc, winner , supervised for the month of July 2011 a participatory transformation of a wasteland into a temporary public space entitled " Place of the Giant " for the occasion.
Two years later, on the occasion of the International Design Biennial of Saint -Etienne, Collective Etc comes back for a refurbishing, involving teams of designers , architects and landscapers.

This free urban space in between two streets is attached to a giant blank wall, support of a fresco naming the place : La Place du Géant .
The project is the link between the gable wall and the place itself. Mitigate the rupture between verticality and horizontality is the main objective. According to this aim, the oblique is omnipresent and the realization has been made in conjunction with the work of the graphic team on the gable wall.

The object slowly invests the "rooms" drawn on the ground by offering various uses related to their respective functions. However, this principle is just a suggestion in order to emphasize ownership of the project by everyone. "
