Llibreria del Born | Baliza Norte

The bookstore is based in the new Born CC in Barcelona, a Cultural Center located in a magnificient cast-iron structure market from the 19th century. The Cultural Centre is built around archaeological remains from 18th century discovered during the refurbishment of the building, it opened its doors in September of 2013. The building functioned as a market during 19th and 20th centuries, and its commercial activity gave a special personality to the whole neighbourhood. The bookshop has been designed to remain reminiscent of the former use of the building, trying to preserve sensations and personality from the old market, paying homage to the market trader days gone by. Furniture was manufactured by a packaging company, and standard solutions from packaging boxes were used to create the furniture details. Most of the furniture is mobile and its position can be changed depending on requirements. Graphic design studio Roseta y Oihana was responsible for the graphic elements and signposting of the bookstore project. They used clean lines typography, basic materials and light to emphasize the interior design concept. [ES] La librería está situada en el Born CC de Barcelona, un nuevo centro cultural ubicado en un antiguo mercado del siglo XIX, un espléndido edificio de estructura de hierro fundido. La temática del centro cultural gira en torno a los restos arqueológicos del siglo XVIII encontrados durante la restauración del edificio, y el significado histórico de estos. Fué inaugurado en Septiembre del año 2013. El edificio se usó como mercado durante los siglos XIX y XX, y su actividad comercial marcó la personalidad del barrio en el que se ubica. La propuesta revisa conceptos de ese pasado comercial. La proximidad, el carácter efímero, lo movible, la acumulación de cajas, la madera... No se intenta reproducir un mercado del siglo XIX, se intenta transmitir el carácter y sensaciones de aquel mercado del pasado a la actualidad. El mobiliario fue producido por una empresa de embalaje. Se usan soluciones standard de cajas de embalaje para desarrollar los detalles. La mayor parte del mobiliario es móvil, permitiendo el cambio de posición dependiendo de los requisitos funcionales del momento. El estudio de diseño gráfico Roseta y Oihana colaboró en la identidad gráfica y señalización. Usaron tipografía de lineas simples, materiales nobles y luz para así enfatizar los conceptos del diseño de interiores.
