EN - IT EN interview to Mr. Daniele Cantoni Article taken from Wellness Design magazine Perfectly set in one of the quietest bays of the Adriatic coast, overlooking the sea, “Baia SPA” was recently opened inside the “Baia Flaminia spa & Resort”. Going down a few steps on the sea level, you can glimpse the reception, which brings through the elegant spa designed and made by Spa-Concept. Passing by the reception you immediately find the beauty area with 5 boxes for treatments like massages “among the waves” on the SPA table “Zero1” and relaxing floating rests inside “Nuvola” tub. Going on we get to the dressing rooms; walking through an emotional route we’ll then reach the heart of the SPA where you can enjoy a marble “Turkish bath” with vaults and columns, single and semicircle seatings, planes and volumes which immediately remind the typical “gobektasi” of the Turkish hammam. In the same area we can also find 3 showers (one of them with mint dew) and another half moon “emotional route” (that is also the logo of the spa) with two Summer storms and an area with side jets, both with gradual change of the temperature. Along the side we can find a wide an unique sauna, with staggered seatings and two walls entirely made of slate, the same material the big hexagonal heater in the middle of the room is made of; a long and tight window in the middle of the wall allows to see a section of the whole spa, like the tepidarium, the relax area, the pool (bay) till even glimpsing the outside. The wet area finally includes a reactivating route with temperate jets and river stones for plantar massage, an ice pool which is great for a local kneipp effect and a particular marble tepidarium that is lightly warmed up by water and made of two, comfortable, double chaise longue. Going on along the natural spa route we cross a double relax area, with marine wood floor and a near room for infusions; this area (that brings to the bay) is surrounded by big glass walls and offers a relaxing sequence of seating hydromassages and reactivating underwater routes. Interview to Mr. Daniele Cantoni From the pictures we note that the Turkish bath and the sauna are two particular areas; can you describe them? Going inside the Turkish bath you get the impression to be surrounded by a typical oriental setting thanks to details like the big bench in “gobek tasi” style where you can comfortably lay down, the vault with a semicircle seating where the natural protection of a big column allows to enjoy the steam without annoyances and a small waterfall which reflects particular lights on the ceiling. The original and evocative effect of this area is further underlined by the marble used for the pools and the covers. About the sauna we followed a project we nicely called “a species evolution” as we used a notoriously “hot” area to create a strong contrast between the usual and classic wood supremacy and two “cold” walls of slate; the result is a new and dynamic effect which breaks the usual image of the mountain hut we can see even inside the most modern and essential spaces. Spa-Concept has always paid a lot of attention to both, inside and outside views, also in the previous projects; would you like to talk about them? Yes, looking for the “focal points” inside the spa is almost an obsesssion for us and we love to create spaces and services allowing people to range and get excited through the view. Would you please explain more? A hallway can remind the “dreary” view of a hospital or a striking sunset you can see through a crack in a canyon; what I mean is that we always try to create this last sensation and where it’s possible we also use to add a surprise element. In this case, for the sauna of the “Baiaspa”, a particular, vertical “light cut” passes through a window that is as high as the area per about 30 cm. width; in this way we created an unexpected and striking focal point allowing to see a section of the spa all over its length. After fixing the economic guidelines we must follow to give the businessman the warranty of a good result, our main target is then creating an area that is able to move whoever runs it. Exalting some views, together with sounds and aromas must create a unique setting allowing people to start a treatment with a relaxed spirit and ready for any experience. Which are the main devices you must follow to make a project with these targets? The striking views must be planned and intentionally created at the beginning of the project; a focal point is not something to decorate a random corner but a wanted route that brings to an unexpected view creating emotions. Can you do a practical example? To get the view a customer can currently enjoy while comfortably sitting in the sauna of the “Baiaspa”, we had to subordinate the project of the whole area in order to get a hallway running along the spa and overlooking the glass walls of the pool (this is the only outside view); we had to foresee the exact middle way of the window and of the four settings the view would have crossed before installing. As always we tried to imagine the 3D route a customer could have run and chose the best internal and external views. For example for the best external views we also foresee, when that’s possible, to insert a particular plant or a water game in order to turn the simple outlook you can see through a hallway into focal point. IT intervista a Daniele Cantoni Articolo tratto dalla rivista Wellness Design Perfettamente incastonata in una delle baie più tranquille della costa adriatica, fronte mare all'interno del Baia Flaminia spa & Resort, è da poco stata aperta al pubblico "Baia SPA". Scendendo pochi gradini sul livello del mare si intravede la reception che ci introduce verso l'elegante spa progettata e realizzata da Spa-Concept. Subito dopo incontriamo la zona beauty, con cinque cabine per i trattamenti tra i quali spiccano i massaggi "tra le onde" nel lettino Zero1, e ed il rilassante galleggiamento flottante nella vasca Nuvola. Continuando arriviamo agli spogliatoi, dai quali tramite un passaggio emozionale approdiamo al cuore della spa, dove ci accoglie un "bagno turco" in marmo con tanto di volta e colonna, con sedute singole e a semicerchio, piani e volumi che ricordano i tipici "gobektasi" degli hammam turchi. Nell'area oltre a tre docce di cui una con rugiada alla menta, troviamo un "percorso emozionale" a mezzaluna (che dà il simbolo al logo della spa), con due temporali estivi a variazione di temperatura modulata ed un'area a getti laterali anch'essi a variazione di temperatura modulata. Di lato troviamo un'ampia sauna, unica nel suo genere, con sedute a sbalzo, e due pareti nere interamente realizzate in ardesia, dello stesso materiale è rivestita la grande stufa esagonale posta al centro del locale; una stretta e lunga finestra al centro della parete fa da "cannocchiale architettonico" permettendo di vedere un taglio di tutta la spa, passando, per il tepidarium, la zona relax, la piscina (baia) fino a intravedere l’esterno. Completano l'area umida, un percorso riattivante a getti temperati e sassi di fiume per il massaggio plantare, una vasca del ghiaccio, ottima per un effetto kneipp localizzato ed un particolare tepidarium in marmo leggermente riscaldato (ad acqua), composto da due comodissime chaise longue doppie. Continuando lungo il naturale percorso della spa incrociamo una doppia zona relax, pavimentata in legno marino, con adiacente zona tisaneria, per arrivare alla piscina (la baia), completamente avvolta da grandi vetrate, che comprende al sua interno tutta una serie di idromassaggi a seduta e percorsi riattivanti subacquei. Dalle foto si ha l'impressione che il bagno turco e la sauna siano due ambienti particolari, ce li può descrivere? Entrando nel bagno turco, si ha la sensazione di essere all'interno di un tipico ambiente orientale, questo grazie ad alcuni particolari come la grande panca stile "gobek tasi", dove ci si può comodamente sdraiare, la nicchia a volta con una seduta semicircolare, che grazie alla naturale protezione di una grossa colonna isola coloro che vogliono godere del vapore indisturbati, ed una piccola cascata temporizzata, la cui acqua cadendo in una vasca illuminata crea particolari giochi di luce sul soffitto. L'utilizzo del marmo dei rivestimenti e delle vasche ha notevolmente contribuito ad amplificare l'effetto originale ed evocativo dell'area. Per la sauna il progetto prevedeva quella che simpaticamente abbiamo considerato "un'evoluzione della specie", cioè un ambiente notoriamente "caldo", in cui abbiamo contrastato la consueta supremazia classicheggiante del legno con l'inserimento di due "fredde" pareti in ardesia. L'effetto nuovo e dinamico che ne deriva, crea una netta spaccatura con il consueto effetto baita di montagna, che fino ad oggi si è visto anche in ambienti moderni ed essenziali. Spa-Concept anche nelle precedenti progettazioni ha sempre dedicato molta attenzione alle viste interne ed esterne, ce ne vuole parlare? Si, la nostra è una ricerca quasi maniacale dei "focal point" interni, e della creazione di locali e servizi che permettano al cliente di spaziare ed emozionarsi attraverso la vista. Può essere più preciso? Un corridoio può ricordare la "piatta" visione di un ospedale, oppure un suggestivo tramonto visto attraverso lo spaccato di un canyon; ecco, noi cerchiamo di ricreare sempre quest'ultima sensazione, aggiungendo, dove è possibile, anche un fattore sorpresa. In questo caso, per Baiaspa, nella sauna un particolare taglio di luce verticale, ottenuto da una finestra stretta non più di 30 cm e lunga come l'altezza dell'ambiente crea inaspettatamente un suggestivo focal point, permettendo una visuale che attraversa la spa in tutta la sua lunghezza. Per noi, una volta fissati i parametri economici, che ci indicano i servizi con i quali diamo una "garanzia" di resa all'imprenditore, la nostra progettazione si sviluppa con l'obiettivo primario di creare un'area che possa emozionare chi la percorre. L'esaltazione di alcune vedute, in sinergia con suoni e profumi, devono creare un ambiente unico, che permette al cliente di "arrivare" ai trattamenti con uno spirito rilassato ed aperto ad ogni esperienza. Progettare con questi obiettivi quali accorgimenti richiede? Le viste suggestive vanno previste e create volutamente all'inizio della progettazione, un focal point non è qualcosa con il quale si agghinda un angolo casuale, ma un percorso che volutamente sfocia su una vista inaspettata che crea emozioni. Ci fa un esempio pratico? Per ottenere la visuale che oggi un cliente può avere, comodamente seduto nella sauna di Baiaspa, abbiamo dovuto subordinare la progettazione dell'intera area per ottenere un corridoio che attraversasse tutta la spa con vista sulle vetrate della piscina (unico punto che permette una vista esterna), prevedendo l'esatta centratura della finestra prima della posa, e della realizzazione dei quattro differenti ambienti che la vista avrebbe attraversato. Come sempre abbiamo provato l'immaginario percorso in 3D che il nostro cliente tipo avrebbe potuto fare, scegliendo così le migliori le viste interne ed esterne. Ad esempio nelle migliori viste esterne prevediamo, quando è possibile, l'inserimento di una particolare pianta o gioco d'acqua, trasformando così, la stretta veduta attraverso un corridoio, da semplice panorama a focal point.
