Brief information on the venue: Area of the construction site: 11.42 ha Height of the building: over 34 m Capacity: 12,000 spectators The Iceberg Skating Palace is intended for figure skating and short track speed skating. When the first cubic meter of concrete was poured in, into the palace's foundations there was also inserted a time-capsule. In the foundations for the "Iceberg" 2,280 piles were driven. Less than a month was required to construct the foundation slap, which has an area of 20,500 sq. m For the foundations, over 18,000 cubic meters of concrete and 1,943 tonnes of armatures were required. Over 500 tonnes of high-density bolts were used in the construction process. To put the venue up, more than 15,000 tons of metal structures were required – the equivalent of two Eiffel Towers. A giant dome rises over the bowl of the stadium at a height of over 30 m.
