Design and technology
- The store is a scale replica of an adidas Stan Smith shoebox, measuring 13.5x7.5m
- The interior features a custom built wall of 120 Stan Smith shoes forming an installation
- A custom designed shoebox label informs visitors about opening hours, the adidas UK Stan Smith website, and
details of the box itself as if it housed a pair of shoes
- Technology and interactive experiences have been woven into the space, from an interactive floor, digital ‘Stan
Yourself’ station and a 3D printing installation to cashless transactions and guest WiFi
Digital interactive floor
- Customers are immersed into a digital experience in a darkened room upon entering the space
- An interactive floor lets customers control a 3D-effect digital graphic as they walk through the entrance of the
shoebox
3D-printed lace locks
- In a sports brand first, adidas makes innovative use of 3D-printing in the form of lace locks available to customers
at the pop-up space
- Using 3D Systems technology, customers can view an installation consisting of twelve ‘Cube’ printers operating
live in the store
‘Stan Yourself’ gallery
- Coinciding with the re-launch of Stan Smith, adidas is developing a ‘Stan Yourself’ app for iPhone and Android
- The software can be previewed in the pop-up on mobile devices; allowing users to take a photo of themselves, it
creates a portrait similar to that of Stan Smith featured on the adidas shoe
- Through a function exclusive to the pop-up, users will receive stickers with their own portrait and signature
- Stickers can be placed on a dedicated display wall, forming a collaborative ‘Stan Yourself’ gallery in the space
Launch event
- Adidas will host an event on 15 January in the pop-up store in celebration of the launch
- Guests will sample a menu including fried chicken snack portions and green juices
Creation
- To create the eye-catching pop-up for the UK re-launch of Stan Smith, adidas has partnered with innovate7, a
London-based company specialised in brand building through the lens of technology and disruption, founded by
Justin Cooke
