Dr. Fish  Spa is located on the ground floor of the building in a busy shopping street in the heart of Belgrade. The main idea was to create an oasis in the vibrant and very dynamic environment. The space is divided in three different sections. The main area consists of four aquariums with Garra Rufa fish for special spa treatments, then it converts into more private souterrain space, and there is also a galley space hidden behind the wall of bamboo. We used the vegetation as a strong conceptual element from the beginning. Once the plaster is removed, the existing architectural elements where brought back to life. Concrete ceiling was carefully restored and exposed brick walls were painted in white, emphasizing the irregularities and its complex texture, which is the integral part of design. In order to create contrast to the complex textures of the walls and ceilings, we decided to use polished epoxy floor, that looks almost like the water surface. All the seating units, tables and basins in rough cast concrete, combined with exposed pipes, soft black cushions and natural wood elements are used to create clean, minimalist, but also dynamic and comfortable space. We used double height gap between the gallery space and the facade walls to hang pendant lights, that filled the entire space with light. The black painted facade elements frame the interior view of the spa. The abstraction and simplicity contrasts with the richness of the color and the textures.
