Shiro Studio was commissioned by M&C Saatchi and Peroni UK to create an immersive experience throughout a Georgian grade II listed building that for the month of November 2013 hosted a series of installations focusing on Italian creativity in the fields of fashion cinema and art. Shiro Studio’s installations have been conceived as an expression of lightness and transparency, as a reference to the ephemeral media of film and fashion photography. On the first floor a series of nonwoven polypropylene fabric panels were suspended from a carbon fibre hexagonal grid, creating an immersive, tactile landscape, for visitors to explore and interact. The entire installation weighing only 6 kgs. On the ground floor the main bar room was clad in a series of reflecting vertical crystalline surfaces: the installation aimed to amplify the social dynamics taking place in the room by refracting the people and light within the space. Shiro Studio also designed the “Blue Ribbon” installation, a 12 meters long silk ribbon suspended in the main stairwell. Through the use of motion detector sensors, linked to a series of mechanical fans, the silk plumes in the stream of air generated by the passing by visitors, referencing the relationship between the human body and formless fabric.
