This timber frame construction is the inverted form of the original cob farmhouse. The form mirrors the introverted 18th century cob structure with an articulated, light timber framed structure opening onto the landscape. The deep overhanging eaves celebrate the wild weather shedding water away from the concrete plinth which doubles a bench. The Douglas Fir frame was constructed on Dartmoor by Emanuel Hendry in collaboration with an ex-employee Alex Thomas who we use as a specialist timber advisor.
