Theater director Giampiero Borgia conceived, for the 2010/2011 season at the Teatro Stabile di Catania, a contemporary play based on the short story by Giovanni Verga “Cavalleria Rusticana”. Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners curated the set design transposing the 19th century short story by Verga into contemporary urban decline. They reproduced a sort of fictional “crime scene” covering big PVC panels with black and white photos of Librino, the most dangerous neighbourhood of Catania. The Carabinieri's sign, symbolizing justice, and the picture of a prickly pear, symbolizing the material wealth of some female characters, are the only colored elements on the scene. CREDITS Direction: Gianpiero Borgia with David Coco, Caterina Misasi, Giovanni Guardiano, Claudia Potenza Scenic design: Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners Costumes: Giuseppe Andolfo Music: Papaceccio MMC & Cespo Santalucia Choreography: Donatella Capraro Lights: Franco Buzzanca Photographs: Filippo Sinopoli
