Orikomi is a handmade origami lamp and by buying one you are also helping the Adobe for Women Association.
They are produced in Portugal by the architectural office blaanc, co-founders of the association, which is currently helping Mexican women build their own houses with their own hands.
Orikomo’s form is simple and elegant in its visual effect, yet complex to create. It is suitable to light a variety of spaces in the home. Also available in the Orikomi collection are packs of 3 tealights which make the perfect decoration.
blaanc is a young design team created in 2008, based in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. After winning two international awards, their work is divided between Portugal, Brazil, Mexico and Ghana and includes international conferences, exhibitions and more than seventy publications worldwide, from Brazil to India, USA or Sweden.
One of blaanc’s main goals is to work with sustainable building and eco-affordable designs, with a special approach in contributing to better living conditions. In 2011, they co-founded the non-profit humanitarian association Adobe for Women, which is based on three fundamental pillars: Construction, Sustainability and Empowerment. Adobe for Women seeks to build sustainably for those who are in need ensuring the development of construction techniques that are useful in their daily routine as well as becoming a viable source of income.
