Nursery and primary school

A wooden building with a compact structure, in order to reduce the loss of heat. It is characterized by the staggering of small foreparts and by the use of stone, wood and architectural details of an Alpine tradition which bring it into harmony with the landscape. The project features pitched roofing covered with traditional stone slates and the use of wooden sun breakers which recall the walling of traditional hay-barns of the mountain valleys. The large sheds for lighting up the inside spaces and supporting the solar panels are instead conceived in an intentionally contemporaneous style not in line with the rest of the building. The school's activity gym, featuring extendible flights of steps, may also be used by the population as a space for meetings and conferences.
