Les Cols | RCR Arquitectes | Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem, Ramon Vilalta

This project completes the first phase of management of the farm Les Cols. The architecture studio RCR -Aranda-Vilalta-Pigem- are in charge of realizing the construction of an unexpected textures world and reflections contained in the tender and construction typical Mas Les Cols. Joaquim Puigdevall and Judit Planella decided to join tradition and architecture to offer rest at night, in an insulated enclosure surrounding the Mas Les Cols like an oasis in the city. The concept of these pavilions has nothing to do with the conventional idea that we have of a hotel or a bedroom. It is a space where reflection and conversation replaced the noise in which we operate. It is a minimalist and intimate hotel so there are not community spaces. Les Cols Pavellons does not offer the luxury for luxury but offers a luxurious sensorial. This project was designed to pursue creating a space with a certain atmosphere that leads to a specific and unique experience. Les Cols Pavellons propose a way to spend the night in communion with the outside, the sky especially, but also to land nearby. Experience comparable to sleep outdoors, but filtered through the cultural lens of architecture and, therefore, forced to learn and take something strange and exciting for our ancestors was very normal. You can find alone in the night and in the emptiness, a refugee of glass walls, where the opaque and reflections of glass laminate is mixed in a virtuous game of light and water to feel again aspects of the nature may be forgotten. SPACES For the construction of the 5 pavilions (double bedrooms) was chosen the orchard area of the "masoveria" why should the provision and distribution of flags. The dimensions of the pavilion are between 20 and 30 m2, then you must add the composed exterior courtyards. The division evokes the linear structure of a traditional garden. Native tradition mixed with Japanese culture, tracing the routes, the layout and decoration of each pavilion are a clear Zen reference. A set of steel rods painted in green guide the customer to the two open-air corridors, covered with a metal mesh that leads to the pavilions (bedrooms). And as a wall the green glass slats protecting the privacy and hinting yards. Outside the yard, evoking the Garrotxa landscape, created with mortar and painted black, at night reappears dyed black. The interior is austere, there is only the bed at night. Empty space, nothingness, gradually becomes the whole. The control of temperature, curtains and light is through a touch screen. All handled by automation control. We find perfectly integrated cabinets bathroom linen, fridge and luggage storage area. The area of water, a water surface unifies the shower and the pool, soaking in the bath temperature, at any time. The battery with water, as if a river is involved. All of them lead to reeducation in the use of space.
