ARCH. FRANCESCO MORENA

DESCRIPTION: This is a logistics facility located by the sea in the industrial area of Trieste. Architectural intervention included the recovery of existing buildings and the creation of special piers for the mooring of tankers. The general design philosophy was inspired by the concept of manufacturing industrial machinery or lending “architectural dignity” through the use of materials and forms designed to create a harmonious and blended composition. The project expanded from the original construction of three buildings to include the restoration and/or renovation of those already existing and by adding a fourth building for offices, measuring 132 smq, with the addition of a control booth at the main entrance. Attention was also given to the design of workspaces to respect the criteria of comfort and safety. Upon completion, the project included the creation of avenues of green trees and two, new, matching street entrances.
