ZONCOLAN HOTEL | Morena Architects
Sutrio / Italy / 2007
ARCH. FRANCESCO MORENA
The theme of this project stems from the notions of respect for, and protection of, the landscape that forms the backbone of the design. The project area provided a great opportunity to reflect on architecture dedicated to tourism, like a white sheet on which to start drawing. Three areas have been created: one for 3 hotels, one for 100 cottages and the last for a multifunctional building. The morphology of the area required specific study for the placement of each building and the location of garages. The local tradition has been drawn upon in the use of materials of facades and in the typology of construction. The architectural shapes create objects that are not aggressive or disrespectful of the mountain culture, but that remain in harmony with the area.
