With wonderful views exploited bt Gerson Castelo Branco, this house was designed for a business couple with tress children as a weekend meeting place for family and friends. It is located where the ocean meets the dunes and the beautiful wide Uruaú Lagoon. Taking advantage of the natural declivity of the land. Gerson’s project places the viewer in a small private paradise without being monotonous – a fault of many of the old rural houses. The outlook from three levels captures the natural ocean breeze ventilation with no need for air conditioning. Entry to the house is trough the intermediate level, crossing a suspended ramp over a mirror of water. Openings ensure that the rooms below , including the kitchen, wine cellar servants’ rooms and bathroom , are naturally ventilated. Also on this level are the swimming pool, sauna, the games room and garage for car and boots. The main entrance goes directly to the living room and the theatre room, which are enhanced by three belvederes that open tp a beautiful exterior view. The eucalyptus timber is one of the house’s highlights, along with the roof’s special timber: cavaco from Pará, a northern state of Brazil: and ipê, a Brazilian wood used for the doors and windows frames. The widespread use of glass allows a total integration with the rich local environment. At its highest point, the roof is like a delta wing or hang-glider shape, which is also one of the architect’s registered landmarks and an important element of his architecture.
