The house of Mr. Simon by Mathieu NOËL & Élodie Bonnefous In 2009 that Mr. Simon has contacted Mathieu Noël for share with him his construction project. He wants to call his former student became an architect. This is the beginning of the adventure... During his career Mr. Simon lives in many homes: apartment, old house ... many experiences that have helped to define his expectations, wishes and dreams. This is the course of a long process of discussion and exchange that the project was designed. Teacher, bibliophile, sensitive with the beautiful things, Mr. Simon wants to make this building project, a positive and rewarding experience: listening and openness are its watchwords. PROGRAM A functional and comfortable home that allows to highlight books, curios, paintings, ... collected over time. This home must to offer a large storage capacity and should be easy to live. SITE Returning to the village where he began his career, it is a return to the source for Mr. Simon. Attached to this place and its people, he is seduced by an old pasture outside the village from which he can contemplate an orchard and in the background the village with his church. THE PROJECT The house position is closest to the path, frees up space for the future garden. Explicitly referring to the archetype of the "Monopoly" house, the house is a simple volume that develops while length. This morphology coupled with materials usually related to barns, can integrate the house into the surrounding rural landscape. In south facade, a wooden deck sheltered by a roof overhang, extended the rooms on the outside. Widely glazed, this facade promotes solar gain in winter. The East front is blind, only the wood cladding is open to hide the heat pump. In West front, a fixed window part of the landscape and the village center. Built in wood frame, a particular attention was paid to the insulation: - 160mm wood fiber insulation between wood framing members + 60mm inner side of the house - 300mm wood fiber insulation under the steel roof The choice of insulation fell on the wood fiber because it provides a source of comfort, especially in summer. The exterior siding is in gross larch mounted vertically, it is intended to skate and turn to a grey tint, contributing to fits the house into the landscape and standardize the exterior skin : roof and wood siding The house is organized in length by three area: in South, living and rooms, a central bookshelf / circulation , and at north, bathroom, WC and technical parts . The long bookshelf structures organization of the house, it is located at the axis of the house and serves all parts. Very open on the surrounding countryside, this piece allows you to store and show a number of things: books, objects, sculptures , plants , vases, etc ... The living room includes the living room, dining room and kitchen, it is a large space, high ceilinged, his volume is like that of the house, a wood stove is located in the heart of this room and ensures optimum comfort to home in winter and during the half season. A underfloor heating throughout the house (powered by an air pump / water heat) complete the stove in winter. A garage and two large attics under the roof supplement the functionality of this home. The interior want to be like the outside: simple and stripped to highlight objects of the owner. FRANÇAIS : C’est en 2009 que Monsieur Simon fait appel à Mathieu Noël pour lui faire part de son projet de construction. Il souhaite faire appel à son ancien élève devenu architecte. C’est le début de l’aventure. Au cours de sa carrière Monsieur Simon a connu de nombreuses habitations : appartement, maison ancienne… autant d’expériences qui ont contribué à définir des attentes, des souhaits et des rêves. C’est au cour d’un long processus d’échanges et de discussions que s’est dessiné le projet. Instituteur, bibliophile, sensible aux belles choses Monsieur Simon souhaite faire de ce projet de construction une expérience constructive et enrichissante : écoute et ouverture d’esprit sont ses maîtres mots. LE PROGRAMME Une maison fonctionnelle et confortable qui permet de mettre en valeur livres, bibelots, tableaux,... collectionnés au fil du temps. Cette maison doit offrir une grande capacité de rangement et doit être facile à vivre. LE TERRAIN En revenant dans le village où il a débuté sa carrière, c’est un retour au source qu’opère Monsieur Simon. Attaché au lieu et à ses habitants il est séduit par une ancienne pâture légèrement en retrait du village depuis laquelle il peut contempler un verger et en arrière plan le clocher. LE PROJET L’implantation de la maison au plus près du chemin d’accès permet de libérer un maximum d’espace pour le jardin. Renvoyant explicitement à l’archétype de la maison “Monopoly” la maison est un volume simple qui se développe tout en longueur. Cette morphologie couplée aux matériaux habituellement apparenté aux hangars agricoles, permet d’intégrer la maison dans le paysage rural environnant. Façade Sud, la terrasse bois abritée par un débord de toit, prolonge les pièces de vie sur l’extérieur. Largement vitrée, cette façade favorise les apports solaires en hiver. Le pignon Est côté voie d’accès est borgne, seul le bardage est ajouré pour dissimuler la pompe à chaleur. Pignon Ouest une baie fixe cadre sur le paysage et le centre du village. Construite en ossature bois, une attention particulière a été portée à son isolation : - 160mm d’isolant en fibre de bois entre montants d’ossature + 60mm coté intérieur - 300mm en fibre de bois sous la toiture en bac acier Le choix de l’isolant s’est porté sur la fibre de bois pour le déphasage qu’elle apporte, source de confort, particulièrement en été. Le bardage extérieur en mélèze brut ajouré avec des lames posées à la verticale, est destiné à se patiner et à griser uniformément ; contribuant à fondre la maison dans le paysage et à uniformiser l’ensemble de l’enveloppe extérieur : toit + bardage. La maison s’organise dans la longueur selon 3 travées : au Sud les pièces à vivre, au centre la bibliothèque-circulation, au Nord les pièces humides et techniques. Une longue bibliothèque structure l’organisation intérieure de la maison, elle est située à l’axe de la maison et dessert toutes les pièces. Largement ouverte sur le paysage rural environnant, cette pièce permet de ranger et de montrer une quantité de choses : livres, objets, sculpture, plantes, vases, etc … La pièce de vie regroupe le séjour, la salle à manger et la cuisine, c’est un grand espace haut de plafond, dont la volumétrie reprend celle de la maison, un poêle à bois est implanté au cœur de cette pièce garantissant un confort optimal à la maison en hiver et pendant la demi saison. Un chauffage au sol sur l’ensemble de la maison (alimenté par une pompe à chaleur air/eau) complète ce poêle en hiver. Un garage et deux grands greniers sous la toiture viennent compléter la fonctionnalité de cette habitation. L’intérieur se voulait à l’image de l’extérieur : sobre et dépouillé pour mettre en valeur les objets du propriétaire.
