Feng Shui, a Chinese system of geomancy believed to use the laws of both Heaven (Chinese astronomy) and Earth to help one improve life by receiving positive qi. The focus in this project was to follow the Feng Shui guidelines and take into consideration the polar directions shown in the chart: North signifying wisdom and career, east; family and health, west; righteousness and children, and finally south representing recognition and fame. Plants’ colors and heights were chosen accordingly. This also applied to the rest of the hardscape materials used. Given that the concept is not native or common to the regional context we tried as much as we can to integrate the garden with its surrounding using native plants.
