Intricate | Alexandra Raben

Studies of patterns lead me to an experimental piece with a mix of materials and techniques and with inspiration found in feathers, contrasts and transparency. Intricate - meaning very complex or detailed - is the exact description of this lamp. It is made of a steel frame with coiled wire and thread hand-woven through to form a thin surface of patterns. Intricate is a confrontation with mass production and monotony. The design underlines the need to make space for the fine unique objects that require patience and fascinating craftsmanship.
The cotton thread is handwoven and the steel frame is handmade by JAS blacksmiths in Denmark.
