We working on the design of our new offices situated in Via Rosales, Milan, just a step away from “la città della moda” with office blocks, shopping areas and new park. Maximum natural light, flexibility, rationality and display walls are the key factor in the design of our working environment. The former 400 m² Fiat garage with a floor to ceiling height of 4.5 m, a street facade and an external garden courtyard will be transformed into our new symbolic but functional facility. The idea is to create an open plan layout “Officina di Architettura” with areas for big scale models, 3 dimensional drawings, team working and client meetings, all neatly arranged in the main 250 m² room of the garage which faces the internal courtyard. A 100 m² skylight will allow a significant amount of natural light into this area. The room at the front, facing Via Rosales, has 3 large floor to ceiling windows, here we have designed our gallery space for cultural events varying from painting and photography exhibitions to product design, car and bike shows. Our aim is to maintain the “garage” style and we are working hard to ensure we achieve this. Natural Stone floors, rendered white walls and big work tables, designed by us, are required to complete phase1. In phase 2 we expect to increase our floor area by building a very narrow but functional mezzanine floor. The team has also designed a flexible lighting scheme which will enable us to minimize running costs. Our new Studio opened in April 2008.
