Niels Jørgen Haugesen is born in 1936 in Vivild, Denmark. He became trained as a cabinetmaker and later had been employed by professor, architect Arne Jacobsen in Copenhagen. In 1971 he establishes his own design studio in Copenhagen and works also as a teacher at Denmark's Designschool in Copenhagen. Niels Jørgen Haugesen has achieved many prices, just to name few: 1986 awarded the ID-prize for the Haugesen table 1987 received the ID-prize for X-line chair, or in 1998 he was awarded with the lifelong Artist's Grant by the Danish State Art Fund He is also represented at: The Danish Museum of Applied Art, DK-Copenhagen Arts Decoratif Union Louvre, F-Paris Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA GETAMA has produced furniture designed by Niels Jørgen Haugesen since 2008.
