Max Hacke
Max Hacke is an architect based in Berlin. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart (2006-2007) and at the Architectural Association in London (2007-2013). After graduating in 2013, he worked in various London offices and founded Büro Hacke in Berlin in 2016. His work covers a broad spectrum, from educational and residential buildings to research and teaching. Current projects include a housing tower and a children’s daycare centre in Berlin, as well as a pavilion in Cologne. Not only in practice, but also in teaching and research, he focusses on the role of architecture in shaping new social and collective dynamics. His conceptual focus is on the changeability and flexibility of architecture, as well as a tendency to understand architecture as a process rather than an object. He was teaching at the TU Braunschweig from 2021 to 2023 and lectured at the TU Berlin from 2016 to 2019. There he explored Design & Build projects in Vienna, Berlin and Bolivia as an experimental teaching and research method. He was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA) in 2023. Together with Gustav Düsing, Max Hacke was awarded the German Architecture Prize 2023 and the DAM Prize 2024 for the TU Braunschweig study pavilion.
