Candles, soaps, bath confetti, creams, fragrances... developed in Grasse and made in Provence - revolve around to three periods: The oriental period "The Harem Garden" So powerful and far away, it goes back to his childhood in Morocco. This era of his life was filled with sensual sents of myrrh, pipe tobacco, oriental cedar, tuberose and aroma of the palace grounds that flooded the garden he first dreamed of. The White Period "My Mother's Garden" More recent and still present, it revolves around a mysterious house in the heart of the imperial forest of Compiègne. The melancholy of this place combined with his mother's gentleness, have created Mathias' secret garden where armfuls of white flowers are gathered - freezia, acacia, gardena, lily, spruce, heirloom rose, lilac, lime blossom, lily of the valley, magnolia and violet. The Blue Period "My Garden of Provence" "The arid and natural land of Haute Provence is rich in fragrances like nowhere else in the world." Here on a hill, Mathias lives in a restored old stone "pigeon" house and cultivates his olive trees. This "land of the sun" miraculously brings together the richness of life and all of Provence fragrances - lavender, bitter almond, fig, orange blossom, rose geranium, minosa and jasmine. 1972 : Opening of "Creation Mathias" in 117, rue de Charenton in Paris, close to Faubourg Saint Antoine. In the beginning, Mathias creates, produces and sells mirrors, lamps, mirrored furniture pieces, as well as costume jewelry. Mentions in the press and exhibitions follow one another. 1982 : The furniture show of Paris opens up to designers, allowing Mathias to express himself with a new line of furniture alongside the likes of P.Stark, Y.Halard, J.Prisca, G.Derain,... In this period he acquire a considerable identity as creator. recognition of his job due to big press support. 1993-1994 : Confident in his strong know-how achieved with lots of years in research he is allowed to express globally his full personality. 1996 : “Rencontre” between Mathias and Baccarat : carte blanche for ten exceptional pieces in limited edition, exhibition in Paris, New York, Palm Beach, Turin, Tokyo. Creation immediately sold out to worldwide collectiors. A beautiful love history is born… 1998 : His senses are overflowing. His sense of taste allows him to create pastries made by Dalloyau for Lafayette Gourmet. His sense of smell creates a burst of products for home : perfumed candles, room spray, wardrobe sachet and body products: body milk, body lotion, soap, eau de cologne, etc. Reminiscing about the places of his life give way to a succession of fragrances created in Grasse, worldwide capital of fragrances. 1999 : After three years of intensive research, launch of “Mille Nuits” collection with Baccarat, revolution for this range of chandelier. for the first time will be conceived in low voltage. this chandelier collection enhance the beauty of crystal prism. 2002 : Baccarat partnership will go on, inside “Mille Nuits” collection, a collection of important chandelier and art objets for tableware, a continual development….The succes is amazing. September 2005 : edition of cooking book “Mathias le gourmand” shows again an hidden talent of a charming personality, an intimate and secret art of living. January 2006 : A new turning point, the choice to dedicate totally to creation, Mathias ends his commercial activity and delegate manufacture and distribution to Forester company. This new energy increases “Mathias” brand's power in the most important international markets. September 2008 : Confident of his know-how acquired Mathias is stimulated by following an aesthetic research that orients him towards the decoration world. These new directions give way to a burst of fertile creativity that is driven by a symbolism that makes him unique and each time gives him greater amplitude.
