Margot Viarnés was born in Figueres, Girona, in 1965. Having completed studies at the Elisava School of Design she embarked on her professional career in the studios of Pepe Cortés and Nancy Robins, opening her own studio in 1989. As a student she obtained the National Prize for Design awarded by the Valencia Furniture Fai, and a number of her pieces have competed for the prestigious FAD awards. She has taken part in numerous international exhibitions and fairs dedicated to industrial furniture design, including those held in Cologne, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Milan, Paris, Brasilia and Athens. Her leitmotif is the idea that spaces are "boxes" in which different items of furniture co-exist harmoniously, thus giving rise to interior design. Her work is versatile, as proven by the ease with she moves from designing interior architecture and custom-built furniture to large-scale industrial products.
