Marcello Massoni
After studying market-economy and political science and working in the manufacturing industry, Marcello was drawn to ceramics. Since 1996 he has been working in clay, producing functional ware and art pieces. In Italy, he established a cultural association known as the Colombarini: a venue where artists of any sculptural or pictorial discipline could find space to work in a well-equipped and comfortable studio. He taught ceramic courses in public and private academies. He also founded his first ceramic production line: Colorbruno Collections, and continued designing for several interior furniture companies. Starting in 2002, he moved to Indonesia and initiated Gaya Ceramic and Design, a creative and unique ceramic production company in Bali. Gaya collections are shown widely: from individuals’ homes to exclusive shops, restaurants, and resort hotels all over the world. Marcello also continues to innovate in clay in a powerfully gestural style for his own personal pieces, and now has resumed teaching in workshops run through Gaya Ceramic Arts Center.
