Juskani Alonso studied at the Research Center of Industrial Design of the UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), he attended courses of Eco Design and Museography in the Polytechnic School of Torino, Italy. He debuted professionally in 2010 as an intern in the Product Development Department at Tupperware Brands located in Orlando, FL. Since then he has collaborated with companies, studios and collective agencies like of Tupperware, Kikkerland, Ariel Rojo, Mob, Thierry Jeannot, Innovando la Tradición, Pekka-Harni, all of which led him to experiment and shape his design perspective from different stances. He has participated and obtained awards in national and international contests such as Dimueble, Salão Design, Grace Arts Center Design Competition, ABN-UNAM and Tupperware Design Competition. His work has been part of national and international exhibits in various cities from Milan, Bento Gonçalves, Torino, to Guadalajara, Oaxaca, and Mexico City as well as shown in festivals among which the following stand out: Design Week of Milan, Design Week Mexico, Corredor Cultural Roma Condesa and Abierto Mexicano de Diseño. In 2013, he founded Estudio Juskani Alonso, a firm driven to design products, furniture pieces and interior spaces. In 2014, he became part of the Design House selection of Design Week Mexico as a promising up-and-comer firm next to world-class studios like Esrawe, C Cúbica, Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen and Tom Dixon. Today, he wears both hats: business owner and designer within his own firm; he is co-founder at the Estudio Wayak’ that combines design and knowledge in a interdisciplinary way inspired by the generational experiences of its members.
