JOSEP MIÀS, Architect. Graduated in 1992 in ETSAB_UPC, Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona_Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. From 1990 till 2000 he worked as Associated Architect with Enric Miralles, developing the following projects Círculo de Lectores in Madrid, Sports Hall in Huesca, Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Alicante, Library in Palafolls, Parc dels Colors in Mollet del Vallès, Cemetery in Igualada, Scotish Parliament in Edimburg, Diagonal Mar Park, Santa Caterina Market and Gas Natural Building en Barcelona. In 2000, Josep Miàs founded his own studio, working in landscape and urbanism projects, architecture and interiorism and industrial design, such as the refurbishment of the old city of Banyoles, Barceloneta Market, Golf Fontanals de Cerdanya Clubhouse, Funicular Station and restoration of the Old Historical Building in Tibidabo Amusement Park, Annexa-Puigbert Primary School and iGuzzini Illuminazione España Headquarters. Other projects which are now being finished are the Plug-in [email protected] building and a Housing building in Torrebaró, both in BCN and a Pedestrian Bridge in Palafolls. Among other prizes those which should be underlined are AJAC Best Young Architect Award 2004, Special Mention in Girona Architecture Award 2005, First Prize in Girona Architecture Award 2007, City of Barcelona Architecture and Urbanism Award 2007, Catalonia Construction Award 2009 and Architecture Aplus Award 2011 for the Best Educational Building in Spain. From 1999, he has developed teaching activities in Architecture Schools in Europe, America and USA: Design Department Professor, at School of Architecture ETSAB, Design Department Professor, at School of Architecture La Salle BCN, Director of the Design Department and Assistant Director, at School of Architecture ESARQ_UIC and Professor in UCL London The Bartlett School of Architecture, UNISS Facoltà d’Architettura Alghero, Frankfurt Stadelschule and Harvard GSD. He has been invited to give lectures and head up workshops in a large number of universities in Spain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, United States, Mexico, Uruguay, and Panama among others. His work, as well as his writings, have been published in international magazines and books, and his work has been exhibited in many architecture exhibition.
