Inspiration can strike at anytime or anyplace for designer Jana Ružicková. Her muse can appear in any object or perception, depending on when and how she discovers it. Sometimes inspiration can be in the details while other times the entire universe can play into her creative intentions. The time of day, surrounding mood, and viewing angle all contribute to her overall awareness and inspiration. The artist believes open eyes and an open imagination set the stage for great concepts.
Jana joins Lasvit’s gifted group of artists with great anticipation. Her design background includes work for Puma, Concept One, LASVIT s.r.o., Nike European Operations Netherlands B.V, and Belda Jewellery, to name a few. Her wide-ranging participation in design exhibitions consists of numerous appearances at Designblok and Designair events, as well as Palermo Design Week and Warsaw Design Week, among others.

Her education background includes the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod, exchange at KONSTFACK: University College of Arts (Crafts and Design, Stocholm, Sweden), and Academy of Arts (Architecture and Design). Jana Ružicková and fellow Lasvit designer Mária Hostinová met while studying at Applied Arts University in Prague and discovered their similar perspectives on design. In 2004, the two collaborated to create Supro Design, a Prague-based design company focused on creating ordinary products in unique ways. Together the two artists work on products, public and private interiors, exhibitions, and other interior and exterior design elements.

Jana previously worked as a lighting designer at UNILIGHT Praha spol s.r.o. and as a junior designer in the studio of Prof.ak.arch Jirí Pelcl. Ružicková and Mária Hostinová also participated in external cooperation with RN Rudolf Netík, architecture atelier. Jana Ružicková is now an external designer for Lasvit.
Distance and cultural influences from all over the world weigh into Jana’s creations, with her works playing upon nature’s variety of colors and shapes. Some of Jana Ružicková’s favorite subjects include blue water, mysterious underwater life, fairy fantasy, dance, and movement. She also enjoys creative and fashionable styles of the 20th century (1930’s - 1980's), as well as hyperbole, lightness, and wit. Her finished designs often comprise bits and pieces of all her favorite perceptions, working together as a condiment to her primarily rational and simple designs.
