Originally from the island of Malta, Eliza has been an expat her whole life and has lived in over 22 cities across Asia, Europe, Africa and the US. This international exposure is at the core of her personal style and professional approach. After graduating in Interior Architectural Design from California State University (Long Beach) she started her career at Gensler working on high-profile and large scale projects across a variety of practice areas and within large teams of designers and consultants. In 2006 she co-founded her studio with university-mate Douglas Esparza, gaining experience in residential design as well as smaller scale commercial developments and handling turn-key projects from inception to end. In 2008 she moved to the Kenya where she designed and coordinated a variety of retail and landscaping projects, private residences and residential developments in Watamu, Nairobi and Kampala. In 2014 Eliza returned to her birth country and aptly set up Studio Nomad Interiors and The Garden Studio, merging her passions for interior design and landscaping. Eliza finds immense inspiration in the Mediterranean: its history, colours, architecture, artisanal crafts. Still driven by her love for world cultures, Eliza designs carefully crafted and curated projects that are the perfect fit for the kindred world traveller and nature lover.
