Elaine was born and educated in Ireland where she gained a diploma in architectural technology in 1993. She moved to London to study at South Bank University and the Architectural Association, graduating in 1999. Elaine first joined Walters & Cohen in 1996 as a Part 1 student, returning to the practice in 1999 after completing her studies. In 2001 she became an Associate and was made a Director in 2007. Elaine’s portfolio includes a private house in Sydney, Australia; the RIBA Award-winning Visitor Centre at Wakehurst Place in West Sussex for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; the Civic Trust Award-winning Shirley Sherwood Gallery in Kew Gardens, and an education pavilion for the Horniman Museum in Lewisham. She has worked as project architect on several education projects, including Wembley Primary School and the Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton. She is currently responsible for the new junior school at St Swithun's School in Winchester.
