Daniel joined Maguire Architects in 2013 after returning from 7 years working in London where he gained extensive experience in masterplanning, urban design, residential and education projects.
"While working for Troppo Architects in Western Australia I developed a keen interest and insight into how to design for climate, people and place. I am motivated to design responsive and adaptable structures and I find it deeply satisfying to work on simple, poetic buildings that are robust and affordable."
Daniel graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2003 and worked for the multi award winning practice Troppo Architects in Western Australia. Relocating to London in 2006, he joined Rivington Street Studio, becoming an Associate in 2008. He was project architect, leading in the design, detailing and management of York St John University’s De Grey Court in the historic city of York. The building won numerous citations, including a RIBA Award and a WAF Award. In 2010 Dan became an Associate and founding member of Studio 54 Architecture, a small practice with a wide range of projects from small residential jobs through to collaborations on large scale urban regeneration projects. Daniel was closely involved in winning two international competitions: In 2008, the £70 million first phase of the Grahame Park Estate Regeneration project in Barnett and the £300 million Greenwich millennium village competition which received planning Approval in early 2012. These projects required careful design team co-ordination, regular presentations and interim reports to the board (client body and key stakeholders), extensive public consultation, and navigation of a sensitive and complex planning process.
When he's not working, Dan's usually still thinking about design, indulging in his passion for making things, riding his motorbike or travelling.
