Born 1971, Brussels, Belgium.
is an Egyptian designer.
Lives and works in Cairo, Egypt.
Married and has one daughter.
Graduated from Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering, Architectural department, 1994.

Upon graduation, Cherif got many jobs dealing with architecture and interiors mainly being the first supervising architect in the prestigious First Residence, Cairo, Egypt.

In 1997, he set up his own practice, AVANTGARDE d.e.s.i.g.n, to deal with all aspects of design whether it is architecture, interior, product, corporate identity etc.
In late 2000, he won a Special Mention in the international design competition ALESSI Italy organized and from 750 projects, 11, Cherif’s included, made it to the final selection. His project, YoYo torch was a normal torch fitted with a simple telescopic stand enabling its user to use it hands free.
In 2004, SAWAYA&MORONI Italy included his VOODOO ashtray in their Spring Accessories Collection.
In 2005, a door design designed for a competition organized by DesignBoom was exhibited in a group exhibition at the famous Triennale Di Milano during the Salone Del Mobile. The exhibition was “curated” by none other than Philippe Starck.
In late 2005, he was one of nine winners in the t-shirt design competition organized by DROOG Holland. The t-shirt is now in production.
In 2006, he was invited to take part in a project with CHI HA PAURA Holland/Italy to design a jewelry piece.
In 2006, he started a collaboration with COVO Italy.
He has also been asked by OFFECCT Sweden to start designing furniture items.

His work has been published in many local and international publications such as MONITOR magazine. and had numerous appearances on egypt’s top tv channels as well as radio broadcast.
