BRAM KERKHOFS (° 1977) is a furniture designer looking for new forms and methods to challenge the functionality and flexibility of a furniture piece. Educated as a goldsmith he is fascinated by connections, hinges and joints, and especially by the forces and opportunities that they generate. Shape, concept, technique and material are always matched, with a lasting alertness to the final function. This time-intensive design and development process always results in unique objects that automatically expresses its signature. Many of his designs are parts that have to be seen as a whole, in which he explores the possibilities for links and combinations, and in which a design must not be seen as a standalone object but as an element in an often infinite combination. Bram is looking for innovative creative solutions. Usually in shape, space, construction and material, but in addition, he also designs tailor-made concepts, linking shape, function and technique to certain situations or contexts.
