Bing Lin is a native of Shanghai, China. He graduated Cum Laude from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1995 and from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design in 1998.
From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Lin worked for NBBJ’s Seattle Office on the designs of the Yin Goe School in Shanghai, the American School in Shanghai, the Children’s Medical Center in Shanghai, and the Stafford Creek State Prison in Aberdeen, WA.
From 1998 to 2010, Mr. Lin worked for Pei Partnership Architects as Director of Asian Development. His numerous large-scale project involvement includes the Museum of Suzhou Embroidery Art in China, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Washington, D.C., the Yin Xiu Youth Cultural Center, and the Nanjing Six Dynasty Museum in China.
From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Lin was based in Suzhou, China and Washington, D.C. as Site Representative for Pei Partnership Architects and I. M. Pei to oversee the construction quality and site coordination between design group, client and construction team. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Lin was Chief Architect for the Shanghai World Financial Center project, now Special Consultant to the project.
Mr. Lin taught at the Universidad Iberoamericana Mexico in 2009 and has been a frequent guest critic at Columbia University. He wrote and translated “Conversation with I. M. Pei: Chinese Edition” in 2004, receiving Best Book Award in Taiwan, and was Chief Reviewer for “I. M. Pei Complete Works: Chinese Edition” published in 2011.
