Aoi Huber Kono studied and graduated from the University of Art and Music in Tokyo. In 1960 she attended the school of arts and crafts in Stockholm. In 1961 Aoi moved to Milan where she began a collaboration with Max Huber, the man she will finally marry in 1962. She has exhibited in several cities and collaborated with various artists and architects, such as Bruno Munari, Mario Botta and Achille Castiglioni. Aoi now lives and works in Novazzano, Switzerland.
