Born in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany, Angelika Mörlein took a degree in Product Design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Pforzheim, Germany in 1994. She started her design career at Atelier Mendini in Milan, where she worked from 1995 to 1999. In 1999 she founded her own design studio, and has worked with a number of internationally-renowned companies. She has run several workshops and has taken part in numerous exhibitions all over Europe. She works in various fields of design, including bathroom interiors, furniture, toys, electrical appliances and household objects. Many of her designs have been bestsellers over several years. Angelika Mörlein believes in the strength of communication of a product. She defines design not as mere styling, but as creating the right product in its own, specific context. She thinks that the function of a product is fundamental, but above all she wants to create an emotional link between the person and the product. Her work is characterized by a playful element to lighten the context and to surprise. Her imagination and her passion for seeking new approaches to provide unusual solutions makes her a designer with enormous potential for ideas and a wealth of creativity. She lives and works in Germany and Italy, at Lake Trasimeno in Umbria.
