Andrea Gatti
My name is Andrea , alias Old Randa. I was born in the early seventies in Vigevano, a beautiful Lombard town (Italy), which was becoming the capital of European footwear.
When I was child, my parents painted soles for footwear and all the people around me had "artistic" jobs; My paternal grandfather was a restorer- painter, my maternal grandfather was a craftsman, so I grew up surrounded by brushes, nails and so much creativity. The soundtrack of my days was the sound of sewing machines for uppers of the shoe and the smells surrounding me were characterized by the pungent smell of glue. The valuable shoes have always been in my DNA. First of all, I learned the procedures of Shoeshiner and then I developed “the Patina's Art"
My shoes are produced with strictly crust leather (neutral white) , on which I go to paint and create Patina.
My innate passion for art and details also leads me to work up to ten hours on a pair of shoes, to make Patina, Glacage and painting its sole.
The Old Randa project encompasses 360 degrees all the things that I love in life, from music to direction , from painting to my life philosophy. Finally, I can give the time a real value, live the emotion of creating a single piece each time and spend whole days to personalize it in the smallest details. Each pair is different from another. Everyone is a still image, a snapshot of the moment in which it was created.
