Alessandro Vicari
Born in Modena in 1960; architect, graduated from Florence (1988). Prior to the commission for the Isola di Comacchio cemetery expansion (1995-1999), awarded the Premio Opera Prima ANDIL (2000), he participated in several competitions. He received awards for the enhancement of the historic streets of Pontassieve, set against the trenches of the new parking lot (1996); for the design of the three squares of Migliarino (Ferrara) and of the dock on the Po (1994); and for the reconstruction of two dwelling buildings in a block of the rue de Laeken in the historic center of Brussels (1990). He invents production objects for several companies (R.S.V.P., Tonelli), limited series for Edizioni Fatto ad Arte, Monza, Galleria Luisa delle Piane, Milan and for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (Artcodif), prototypes for some cultural initiatives of "Abitare il Tempo" in Verona.

He collaborated in the editing of "Dictionnaire d'Architecture Moderne et Contemporaine," ed. IFA-Hazan, Paris 1996. He has worked as a researcher at the Institut Français d'Architecture and for the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, and teaches drawing at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, design at the European Institute of Design, and furniture at the Higher Institute of Architecture and Design, Milan. His work has been published in magazines and exhibition catalogs; some of his projects are part of the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
