Piero Lissoni and Nicoletta Canesi founded Lissoni Associati in Milan in 1986, a studio specializing in architecture, interior design and product design. Ten years later, the visual communications company Graph.x was formed to concentrate on brand identity in terms of catalogues, advertising campaigns, videos, web design and packaging. Lissoni Architettura was then established in 2013 to manage the increasing number of international clients, followed by the New York based Lissoni Inc., responsible for interior design and architecture projects on the American continent.
Piero Lissoni and his multinational team thus encompass architecture, interior design, product/lighting design, graphics, art direction and corporate identity, with projects that extend globally to include private villas, residential buildings, offices, factories, retail, theatres, restaurants, hotels and yachts.
Piero Lissoni is art director for Alpi, Boffi, De Padova, Lema, Living Divani, Lualdi and Porro. He designs products and exhibition stands for many of these brands and other prestigious companies including Alessi, Audi, B&B Italia, Bonacina 1889, Cappellini, Cassina, Cotto, Fantini, Flos, Gallo, Glas Italia, Golran, Illy, Kartell, Kerakoll Design House, Knoll International, Olivari, Salvatori, Sanlorenzo Yachts, Serapian, Schönhuber Franchi, Tecno, Viccarbe and Wella.
His work is recognized worldwide and has earned him a series of international awards, including the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the Compasso d'Oro ADI.
Piero Lissoni is guest lecturer and member of the Advisory Board at the Politecnico di Milano, and has been inducted into the New York Interior Design Hall of Fame.
Completed architectural and interior projects include Casa Fantini, a boutique hotel on the shores of Orta Lake (2017); twelve hotels across South Korea for Shilla Stay Hotels (2017); the Roomers Hotel Baden-Baden with its 130 rooms and spa in Germany (2016); the Grand Hotel Billia in Saint Vincent (2014); the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam (2012); the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem (2009); the renovation of the historic Teatro Nazionale in Milan (2009); the headquarters and production facilities of Kerakoll Design Lab (2014); Matteograssi (2011), Glas Italia (2010) and Living Divani (2007), a series of international showrooms for Boffi, Cassina, Living Divani, Porro and Tecno; new flagship stores for De Padova and Fantini in Milan.
Soon to be inaugurated are the Oberoi Resort Al Zorah in Ajman, UAE; The Middle House for the Swire Hotel Group in Shanghai; exclusive waterfront condos and villas for the Miami Beach Ritz-Carlton Residences; a luxury townhouse in New York and a private villa in Amsterdam.
Piero Lissoni’s expertise and his passion for food and for kitchen design led the firm to design the restaurant D’O for the celebrated chef Davide Oldani (2016) and Filippo la Mantia Oste e Cuoco (2015) for the eponymous Sicilian chef.
Incursions into the nautical world include the interior design of the crossover motor yacht SX88 27m (2017) with Sanlorenzo shipyard, officially presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival and previewed at the Triennale in Milan; the 50m yacht Tribù (2007) in partnership with Mondo Marine shipyard; the interiors of the 36m sailing yacht Ghost (2005) in collaboration with Brenta Yacht Design Studio.
Completed works in the fashion world involve collaborations with the Italian brands Benetton, Gallo, Santandrea and Serapian, as well as the New York designer Elie Tahari.
Lissoni’s interest in the art world brought him to design the exhibition on the Renaissance painter “Bernardino Luini e i suoi Figli” at Palazzo Reale (2014); a retrospective of the photographer Giovanni Gastel, curated by Germano Celant, at Palazzo della Ragione (2016); the room for temporary exhibitions at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan, inaugurated with “The triptych of Antonello da Messina” (2015) and followed by the exhibition “Jacques Henri Lartigue photographer” (2017).
