Patricia Urquiola

  • Eng Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo (Spain) and now lives and works in Milan. She attended the faculty of architecture of MadridPolytechnic were she graduated in 1989 having done a thesis with Achille Castiglioni. From 1990 to 1992 she was assistant lecturer on the courses held by Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli both at Milan Polytechnic and E.N.S.C.I. in Paris. In 1996 she became head of the Lissoni Associati design group, working for Alessi, Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell, and others. On her own, she designs for B&B, Bosa, De Vecchi too, Fasem, Liv’it, Mdf, Molteni, Moroso and Tronconi and designed stands and showroom for Knoll, Moroso, Sag 80, and Somma. Her products have been selected for the Italian Design 2001 exhibition. In 2001 she was chair of the jury for the 19th CDIM Design Award and was lecturer in the Domus Academy. She is currently conducting her professional activity in her own studio in Milan in the field of design, exhibitions, art direction, and architecture. Urquiola is currently working with companies such as Alessi, B&B, Kartell, Molteni, Moroso and VICCARBE. ----------------------------------------------------- Patricia Urquiola nació en Oviedo (España) y en la actualidad vive y trabaja en Milan. Estudio en la escuela de arquitectura de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, donde se gradúa en 1989. Realiza la tesis con Achile Castiglioni. De 1990 a 1992 es profesor ayudante en los cursos impartidos por Achile Castiglioni y Eugenio Bettinelli, ambos en el Politécnico de Milán y la ENSCI en París. Entre 1990 a 1996 trabaja en la oficina de desarrollo de producto nuevo de DE PADOVA y con Vico magistreti firma los productos: “Flower”, “Loomsofa”, “Chaise” y “Chaise Longue”. En 1996 pasó a dirigir el departamento de diseño de Lissoni Associati, con el que trabaja para Alessi Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell, entre otros.Ya con su propio estudio diseña para Alessi, B&B, Kartell, Molteni, Moroso y VICCARBE. Sus productos han sido seleccionados para la exposición Diseño italiano 2001. en el año 2001 fue miembro del jurado de la 19 Edición de los premios CDIM y es miembro de la Academia Domus. En la actualidad, dirige su propio estudio en Milán y se dedica al diseño, exposiciones, dirección artística y a la arquitectura. Trabaja para Alessi, B&B, Kartell, Molteni, Moroso y VICCARBE.
