We were commissioned to design a home for a young family with two adventurous boys. The clients bought a hectare stand in a rural estate with a ‘koppie’ (a small hill rising up from the African veld) and a magnificent view over the landscape to the east of Pretoria. They wanted a home where all of this could become part of their lives.

What an unbelievable home! The use of stone is brilliant. The masonry is a perfect colour for the location of the house and the building looks like it literally arose from the ground because of it. I love how the modern divisions are complimented by the more traditional stone...neither notions clash either. Beautifully executed example of balance!
