Our project is based on a deep analysis on Simrishamn as a fisic, urbanistic and architecural place, but above all as a place in which people live.
The first act of our reflection has been his anthropological dimension.
We looked at the relation between built and free space, green area, public and private spaces.
The main feature of Simrishamn has been immediately his " human dimension" and for us has become the generative element.
Our goal is to have effects on the place that create new functions and meanings without changing his heritage of primitive meanings.
Expecially we tried to do this in the area for residential program where the hauses are organized as a kind of village and the architectural aesthetics is based on the primitive residences of Simrishamn.
Than in the part of the waterfront we have studied a system that respect the visual permeability and create a way between the building and the sea.
This way becomes for us something of polyvalent. In fact you can find there satellite functions and public space completly free where people can walk, run, watch the sea and spend his time.
Between the residential area and the waterfront area we have design a multipurpose building that become a point of connection between them.
At first we have analysed the urbanistic lines and connections and we have studied the accesses and the new lines and street on the basis of that.
All the areas are organized by a series of ways and main lines connect the main areas.
We have kept the main road network and we have created a series of point of access.
Our goal is to project a system that get together different thematic areas and functions but into an homogeneous system in which the unit of measurement is the human presence.
The word "diversification" refers to the many and different functions that don't want change the identity of the place but improve the spirit of the place.
In the masterplan is easy to observe the balanced proportion between green and built.
In the residential area the privat green and the public green are organized in order that the hauses are independent in spite of very close and the people can live in connection with nature.
In the central area of the project, were is the main buildin, green areas introduce to it and is in balance with the pavement and the accesses.
in the waterfront area the presence of the green is in union with the ways and the function, but all is inside within the same system.
The multipurpose building becomes a land mark for the project and a point of union between the residential area and the waterfront area. In fact arises in a barycentric point in respect to the planning system.
It has limited dimension because of the goal to have architecture at human scale. It has a close-knit and monolithic shape with faces that frame attractive views.
We have chosen wooden material for the outdoor facade like for the outdoor promenade tha is the main spine of the entire project.
The big central ceiling space set up like as a covered square for people meeting and aggregation year round.
The part on the sea has a glass ceiling facade that protect the interior space from the atmospheric agents and at the same time to store the heat of sunshine rays.
Into the building the funcyions are many: cafè, exibition hall, panoramic hall, square, winter covered square, restaurant and shops.
We decided to put the residential area in this part of the
project site because of the many accesses that serve
the area and the position near the sea and near to other
residential buildings.
This section of the project is very important for us because
we have studied a series of living solutions that are cut for
specific figures.
It's very important for us the quality of the life and the house
is a primary feature for that.
We have designed architectural shapes that come from the
primitive aestethic shapes of Simrishamn houses.
We did not want deprive the project of the primitive spirit of the place.
So we have organized a series of lines of house in which everyone has a private green spece and a public green space ink all the system.
The typologies are five and someone has more than one possibility of develop.
The promenade, the main axis of our project, cross the project site and link the key points.
These key points are fixed by the intersection between the existing fabric of ways with the ideal axis determinated by the moving back of the coast line.
In corrispondence to the attractive points the promenade has some trasformations.
It becomes an organic structure that contains pavillions and pedestrian ways with stop and meeting points.
The square is the point of connection between the promenade and the multipurpose building.
They are managed with the same wooden material.
