Veltins Lounge, presented by Contain Gallery Cologne and Designspotter. Competition proposal.
The lounge is a place of communication. Its explicit scale comprehends an inherent non-scale maze, allowing multilayer alternations of perception, confounding the human sense of measure. The interplay between the three-dimensional lounge landscape, the pendant illuminants and the piled up crates, bottles and packages forms an interior space structure, which seems to emphasize single interference points within the grid of space and time. Each lighting object represents a single benchmark in the whole fabric. The correlation between the single elements evokes an imaginary map and an individual spacial conception in every visitor‘s mind. It is a fragmentary and abstract outline of a virtual urban meshwork.
A slightly elevated platform - made of standard wooden pallets - crosses over the garden of bottles and invites for a stroll, to sit down, to relax, to listen, to drink, to communicate. The world beyond this edge virtually seems to continue. It can be read and interpreted freely, while the imaginary and the real world intersect each other.
