Magdalena Recordon was born in Valdivia, Chile. She spent her childhood in La Union drawing among the multiple tissues and wool compositions made by her knitting artist mother. She is a graphic designer graduated from the School of Architecture and Design PUCV in Valparaiso. After five years working in Santiago, she leaves to Paris to accomplish a New Media Master Degree at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI/Les Ateliers), which she obtains in 2003. The memory of a repetitive gesture and the colourful universe of knitting nourish her work, materialized through diverse graphic experimentation in drawings, photography and video. Her expertise involves organising information to make reading easier. This meaning construction concern is built with modular elements such as typography, textures and patterns. Through these media associations, she tries to conceive a personal reflection on visual communication systems. Having experience since 1998 in the editing and corporate design area, she has worked as a freelance graphic designer as well as an integrated artistic director for many enterprises (1) and publishing houses (2). (1) Face à Face, Gip Gerailp, Morinaga Milk, Suez. (2) RE Producciones, Revista Paula, Artpress, La Martinière.
