Antonio Citterio was born in Meda (MI) in 1950. He took a degree in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, and in 1972 opened his own studio, focusing on architecture and interior design. From 1987 to 1996 he worked in partnership with Terry Dwan, designing buildings in Europe and Japan. The most important projects included the redesign of a block in the historical center of Seregno (MI), the Esprit headquarters in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Milan, and industrial plants for Vitra in Germany and Antonio Fusco in Milan. In 1999 Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel formed Antonio Citterio and Partners, a multidisciplinary office concentrating on architecture, industrial design and graphics. Patricia Viel was born in 1962 in Milan, where she took a degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic in 1987. In 1986 she began working in the studio of Antonio Citterio as a project manager. Since 1999, as a founding partner, she has been in charge of architecture, while taking an active part in the management of the studio. Since 2005 she has been a member of the Board of Directors of IN/ARCH, for the section of the Province of Milan. In September 2009 the studio changed its official name to "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners". Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners develop projects for residential and commercial complexes, industrial facilities, restructuring and conservation of public buildings, space planning for work areas, offices, showrooms and hotels. The company has a strong expertise in providing detailed project documentation covering both the shell and core and the interior of a building, from building envelope to interior fit-out, including bespoke millwork elements and furniture. The firm is also active in the sector of corporate communication, handling projects of coordinated image, installations and graphics.
